Pool top after Tinkler hat-trick

FORMER Leeds United midfielder Mark Tinkler bagged a hat-trick for Hartlepool United helping The Pool stay top of the table after a 4-3 win over Wrexham.

Tinkler and Marcus Richardson fired the home side into an early two-goal advantage, before Lee Jones pulled a goal back for The Red Dragons.

The 27-year-old completed his hat-trick with a goal either side of half time to seal the three points, although the home side were made to sweat on the result after Lee Trundle and Hector Sam netted further goals for the visitors.

Torquay missed the chance to maintain the pressure on the leaders after crashing to Peter Taylor's Hull City 4-1.

Following a tense opening period Ian Ashbee put The Tigers ahead with a goal just before the break, and doubled their advantage when Phil Jevons scored moments after the break.

Kidderminster Harriers maintained their solid start to the new campaign after a 3-2 away win over Shrewsbury.

Bo Henriksen fired the visitors ahead after only five minutes, however a brace from Ryan lowe turned the game on its head.

Vitally for The Harriers Danny Williams equalised on the stroke of half time, before an own goal by David Artell handed the visitors all three points ten minutes after the interval.

York City avoided their sixth defeat of the season when Stephen Brackstone netter a late equaliser with virtually the last kick of the game against Bristol Rovers.

It all start brightly for the home side when the club's top goal-scorer Peter Duffield fired City ahead on 39 minutes.

Just when it looked like Rovers were going to leave Bootham Crescent with all the points, Brackstone intervened to earn The Mistermen a share of the spoils.
