Midfielder signs on a free transfer from Barnsley
Scunthorpe United have completed the signing of midfielder Sam Togwell from Barnsley on a free transfer.
The 23-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a two-year contract at Glanford Park and becomes the club's seventh signing of the summer.
Togwell told Scunthorpe's official website: "I just want to play first-team football. Barnsley couldn't offer me that.
"I spoke to a few teams in the summer, but for one reason or another it didn't quite happen.
"It's a good move for me, the club are ambitious and they want to get back into the Championship. Hopefully we can do that this year.
"I wouldn't have signed if I did not think we were capable of achieving promotion."
Former Crystal Palace trainee Togwell joined Barnsley in July 2006 and made just over 50 appearances in two years at Oakwell.
