Williams close to Terriers switch

Robbie Williams has made his move to Huddersfield subject to a medical.

Barnsley full-back Robbie Williams will complete his move to Huddersfield if he passes a medical at the Galpharm Stadium.

The 22-year-old has agreed personal terms with the Terriers after they settled on an undisclosed amount for the player with Barnsley.

Williams has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal, but Huddersfield manager Andy Ritchie says that the defender's impending arrival will not affect the role of current Terriers player Joe Skarz.

"We identified that we needed another left-sided player and he fits that bill perfectly," Ritchie told Huddersfield's official website.

"The squad now has a good blend of players.

"The signing of Robbie is not going to stop Joe from playing a significant role for us this season.

"They are the only two naturally left-sided players that we have at the club and there is no reason that they could not play in the same 11."

Williams, who spent two months of last season on loan at Blackpool, began as a Barnsley trainee and went on to play 53 first-team games.
