Eriksson determined to tie down teenager to new deal

Leicester have opened talks with Jeffrey Schlupp about a new contract for the highly-rated teenager. The 18-year-old striker is the club's leading scorer this season with four goals -all of them coming in the Carling Cup. He still has two years remaining on his current deal but the Foxes want to tie down the Ghana-born Germany Under-19 international for the long-term. Schlupp, who had a successful loan spell at Brentford last season, only signed fresh terms in April but his profile has risen considerably since then, with a number of Premier League clubs thought to be tracking his progress. "He has two more years left on his contract but he will have another one, no doubt about it," insisted Eriksson. "The club has started talks with his agent. He is a great prospect for the future and we are very happy with him. Playing in this league he is getting stronger and stronger, and cleverer too."
