FOXES EYE BEES ACE

LEICESTER CITY are believed to be tracking highly-rated young midfielder Martin Rowlands from Second Division outfit Brentford.

Foxes boss Peter Taylor is said to be a big admirer of the talented midfield ace and he could be set to make a move for the 21-year-old.

Leicester still have money available from the sale of Neil Lennon to Celtic, having spent just £3 million on Matthew Jones from Leeds, and Taylor would like to add cover to his squad.

The need to strengthen the midfield engine room at Filbert Street may be increased by the possible long absence of Muzzy Izzet from the side after the Turkish star sustained a nasty looking neck injury in the draw with Arsenal at the weekend.

The Bees, who currently sit in 11th in the Division Two table, would not stand in the player's way for a dream move to The Premiership if they received a suitable offer.

The move would cap a remarkable progression for the player having only played two seasons in league football after Brentford snapped him up for just £45,000 from non-league outfit Farnborough in 1998.
