Blackburn boss expects 'chunky' figure for Canada international

Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean is waiting to see if Queens Park Rangers make an offer for Junior Hoilett or whether the matter will go to a tribunal. Hoilett has rejected a new contract at Ewood Park following Rovers' relegation from the Premier League and Sky Sports understands he has agreed a deal with QPR. Borussia Monchengladbach were also among the clubs interested in signing the Canada international, but Hoilett has opted to stay in England. Rovers will be entitled to compensation for the 22-year-old and reports have claimed the Championship club are demanding £6million for the forward. There has also been speculation that Kean would be prepared to accept QPR striker Jamie Mackie in part exchange, but the Rovers boss is still expecting a 'chunky' fee for Hoilett.

Grapevine

"We haven't heard anything from Junior," said Kean. "I believe he has signed for QPR but that has not been confirmed yet. "I think he has had a medical but we haven't been told that officially from QPR - we just heard on the grapevine. "I don't know the process now. They might make us an offer for his registration but if not it might go to a tribunal. "We feel we have played a large part in his development. We wish him all the best but it would have been nice if we had a call. "I don't know what the figure was for Daniel Sturridge, but I know it was a chunky figure. "We have had Junior a long time, we have put a lot of time and effort in him and I'm sure that will be reflected in the price."
