Everton looking to make up for opening day defeat

Everton skipper Phil Neville concedes that they are out to avenge their opening day defeat against Queens Park Rangers this weekend. The Toffees saw their original curtain raiser at Tottenham postponed due to the riots in the capital. That meant they opened their campaign a week late at home to QPR, but it ended in disaster for Everton as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat. The two sides have since experienced contrasting fortunes with Everton pushing on into the top-half of the table, whilst QPR battle against relegation. Neville admits that Everton are looking to put things right at Loftus Road. "It was a disastrous start to the season and we make no bones about it," he told Everton's website. "But I think we're a different team now. "I also think they're a different team - they've got a different management and different players. "They are obviously down near the bottom and we're pushing into the top half of the table now. We've just got to make sure we recover well from the international break and from not having a game last Saturday so that we hit the ground running. "And we'll need to do that because QPR have got talented players, good attacking players, and we're going to have to play well to get a result."
