Mark Hughes is anticipating a busy day of transfer activity at Loftus Road on Tuesday but has played down talk of a sensational swoop for Carlos Tevez.
The Argentine has been linked with a host of clubs this month as he looks to leave Manchester City, but many of those potential suitors now appear to be out of the running with just over 24 hours until the deadline.
Hughes worked with Tevez during his time in charge at the Etihad Stadium and the Queens Park Rangers manager is known to be on the lookout for a new striker, while he remains a keen admirer of the player.
However, Hughes has set his sights on
other targets such as Djibril Cisse as he does not believe there is any chance of QPR realistically signing Tevez.
"I would consider it all the days of the week but the likelihood of that happening is unlikely, to be perfectly honest," Hughes said of Tevez.
"As much as I would love to think it could happen, I would be very surprised.
"He is very much a Man City player at this time and I think the view is he will be there until the end of the season and then he will look at his options again.
"Unfortunately, I don't think we are an option for him."

QPR have been busy during the January transfer window, signing Manchester United's Federico Macheda, AC Milan left-back Taye Taiwo and Nedum Onuoha from Manchester City.
Nancy midfielder Samba Diakite completed his loan move to Loftus Road on Monday afternoon and it is understood the west Londoners are optimistic of up to another three joining before the deadline.
Hughes says he is content with the club's January work so far and is hopeful of more signings to come.
"We are reasonably happy with the business we have done up until now," he said.
"We are hopeful of doing a little bit more before the window closes but, as with all of these things, you never know until the window closes how many of your targets you will complete on.
"Some seem to move very, very quickly and others take a huge amount of time and effort to get over the line.
"We are involved in a number of those types of deals so we will just have to wait and see.
"We are pleased with how we have done up until this point and hopefully we can continue in the same vein."
