Queens Park Rangers chief executive Philip Beard insists the West London club will only do 'sensible' business during the transfer window.
Rangers, backed by their mega-rich owner Tony Fernandes, have been linked with a host of big-money moves as new boss Mark Hughes looks to stave off the threat of Premier League relegation.
AC Milan defender Taye Taiwo and Brazilian striker Henrique, 20, are close to completing their moves to Loftus Road and Beard is hopeful these deals will be pushed through quickly.
But he denied third-bottom QPR would be paying over the odds during the transfer window to preserve their top-flight status.

"January is a difficult month to do business but the crazy thing is that some of the numbers that appear, in transfer fees and wages, are just madness," Beard told
Sky Sports News.
"Some of the numbers discussed I can tell you are way out of anything we would be looking to do.
"Any deals we are doing will be right for QPR , right for the player and will be sensible.
"We want to bring one or two players in to strengthen an already strong squad. But we're not going to do any silly business in January.
"I think the squad we've got can do well in the Premier League but if we can add one or two players, and they are good deals for the club, then we will."

Rangers have been linked to a £3million move for defender Nedum Onuoha, who played under Hughes at current club Manchester City.
The player's mother Dr Anthonia Onuoha, also his representative,
told Sky Sports on Friday afternoon that the 25-year-old has not opened talks with the Hoops.
Beard said any potential move has to be right for all parties involved, adding: "We've had long dialogue with Manchester City about Nedum - we like the player a lot.
"But what is key, and it's the same for all deals, the move has to be right for both teams but most importantly it has got to be right for the player.
"It's no good simply having an agreement between the two teams. The player has to believe it's the right move for them."
Beard also dismissed speculation linking Rangers to Tottenham pair Niko Kranjcar and Heurelho Gomes.
