Stoke have extended Danny Pugh's contract at the Britannia Stadium until 2013.

On-loan defender to stay at Britannia until 2013

Stoke have extended Danny Pugh's contract at the Britannia Stadium until 2013. The defender is currently on loan at former club Preston and has been given the go-ahead to remain at the Championship side for a further month until mid-January. But the Potters have no intention of allowing the 28-year-old to leave permanently, with boss Tony Pulis saying the contract extension is reward for the defender's part in the club's success since he signed from North End three years ago. Pulis told Stoke's official website: "It is important we look after the players who helped start off what we have achieved over the past three years and Danny is one of them. "Although he has found it difficult to command a place in the squad this season, he is an excellent professional and every club needs players with his qualities who can be relied upon to come in and do a good job if required. "The impact he has made at Preston is evidence of that and he will benefit from playing regular first-team football."
