Hearts' summer signing hoping to face Hibs

Hearts striker Stephen Elliott is hoping to get his first taste of the Edinburgh derby on Sunday against Hibs at Easter Road. The former Sunderland, Wolves, Preston and Norwich striker joined Hearts on a two-year deal over the summer, but injury has so far curtailed his impact. Elliott is yet to start an SPL game for his new club and sees Sunday's mouth-watering clash as the best way to kick-start his Jambos career. "This is my first Edinburgh derby, obviously," he told the club's official website. "I have seen a couple on TV down south and they have been really good games to watch. I can't wait to play in one myself, although it's up to the manager what he decides.

Derbies

"I have been involved in derbies before such as Sunderland-Newcastle and the build-up was very similar to here and this is just as big." Elliott has been frustrated with his injuries to date and was pleased to get 45 minutes under his belt in last weekend's 3-0 home defeat to Kilmarnock. "I haven't had a good start with all the injuries but I got 45 minutes last Sunday and I'm ready to start this weekend if called upon," he continued. "This match is so important to everyone and we all know how much it means. We just want to give it our best. If you can't get up for a local derby then you shouldn't be in the game."
