Canaries starlet pens pro deal

Norwich City striker Chris Martin has signed professional terms at the club.

Norwich City striker Chris Martin has signed professional terms at the Championship club.

Martin, a product of The Canaries' academy, has impressed since joining up with Peter Grant's first-team squad in January, scoring five goals.

The 18-year-old has now signed a three-and-a-half year contract which will keep him at Carrow Road until 2010.

"It's obviously a relief." Martin told the club's official website.

"It's been going on for a few weeks now so it's good to get it out of the way and concentrate on my football.

"It's happened very quickly from the end of January until now and I'm very pleased to get my first contract sorted out.

"I'm happy the manager has shown a lot of faith in me, but it's only the start of things. I need to carry on working hard to remain in the team and to keep playing."
