Grant won't gamble on Brown

Norwich forward Chris Brown has suffered a setback in his bid to return to fitness.

Norwich forward Chris Brown has suffered a setback in his bid to return to fitness.

Brown had been pencilled in to travel with the squad for last Saturday's trip to Cardiff, but reported tightness in his hamstring and was pulled from the party by manager Peter Grant.

The former Sunderland man has not featured since being replaced at half-time against Coventry in the middle of February and Grant is not prepared to take any risks.

"It's just a niggle," Grant told the club's website. "With hamstrings I'm loath to tempt fate with them because they can become big problems.

"He's trained a couple of days and felt a bit of stiffness and I'm not taking any chances on that because if you pull a hamstring it can be six to eight weeks and we're not that flushed with players to be able to do that."
