Holt: We can survive

Gary Holt is remaining optimistic over Norwich City's survival hopes, despite being seven points from safety.

The Canaries were promoted to The Premiership in the summer, and have struggled to adapt to the higher standards demanded in one of Europe's top leagues.

Under Nigel Worthington they have picked up 20 points to remain in touch with their relegation rivals, although face a mountainous task if they are to achieve salvation.

However their Scottish midfielder has declared that City were prepared for a lengthy struggle, and believes they are not far away from a level of performance that will see them stay up.

"We knew it was going to be hard," Holt told Sky Sports News.

"From the start of the season we were under no illusions about how difficult it was going to be, it just turned out to be a wee bit harder than we thought.

"But the boys are playing well, we're working hard, and as long as we keep doing that then we'll not be far away."

Worthington's next task is to face reigning champions Arsenal, and striker Mathias Svensson believes that the Carrow Road outfit have the ability to pick up points in what would be a shock result.

The Swedish man insists that Norwich will approach the game with a positive attitude, and is confident that they can sneak a result in North London.

"The next game is obviously Arsenal, we have to look at that and I think we've got a good chance of getting something out of it," said Svensson.

"We have to think positively, that's all we can do, we know they are one of the top sides in Europe and we're probably not at the moment.

"But we can do good stuff as well and we've got to stay positive, go to Highbury and try to get something."
