Burnley defender Tyrone Mears has confirmed his international future is purely focused on England.
The 26-year-old right-sided player still harbours hope of pulling on a Three Lions jersey, despite playing in a friendly for Jamaica against Nigeria in February.
Mears had thought his father was from the Caribbean island, however, he recently found out this was not the case and he no longer qualifies for Jamaica.
The Clarets star is now in the process of getting his international status sorted out with Fifa, but insists he is only thinking about playing for England in the future.
"I've spoken to Fifa and everything is going to get sorted," he said in
The Sun.
"I just need to speak to the FA. I'm just hoping now that Fabio Capello will start coming up here to Turf Moor.
"Anything can happen in football. I'm playing as well as any other right-back in the league."
Burnley take on Mears' former club West Ham on Saturday in the Premier League and he will want to prove a point against his old side.
The full-back only played a handful of games for the Hammers, in what was a topsy-turvy season at Upton Park, and he scored on his last return there with Derby.
"I had a stress fracture, it was difficult to get going but it was a crazy season," he added.
"Pardew got sacked, Curbishley coming in and also Mascherano and Tevez as well - crazy.
"I went back there last season with Derby and scored, which was nice."
