Clarets sign ex-City full-back

Former Man City defender Stephen Jordan has signed a three-year deal with Burnley.

Former Manchester City defender Stephen Jordan has signed a three-year contract with Burnley.

Jordan was released by ex-City boss Stuart Pearce at the end of last season, having made 62 appearances during his time at the club.

He had been attracting interest from clubs in the Premier League, but has now opted for a deal with Championship side Burnley.

Steve Cotterill admits he has been trailing the full-back since he was let go by City and is happy with his latest summer recruit.

"We are delighted to have Stephen on board," the Burnley manager told the club's official website.

"He was one of the first players that I spoke to in the summer and it has taken a long time to land him due to there being a fair bit of interest from the Premiership.

"But I think, with coming towards the start of the season, Stephen decided he did not want to wait around any longer and has decided to come to Burnley Football Club.

"As I said, we are delighted to have him and he will give us good competition and extra defensive cover."
