Ipswich have signed teenage winger Dylan Connolly from Shelbourne on a contract until 2016 with the option of a further year.

The 19-year-old impressed boss Mick McCarthy during a pre-season friendly between the sides last summer and was handed a trial at Portman Road.

He is reunited with former Shelbourne team-mate Adam McDonnell, with the 17-year-old midfielder having already joined Town although his first-team debut has been delayed as he is awaiting clearance from FIFA.

Connolly has been pencilled in to feature for the Under-21's against Millwall on Monday.

McCarthy told the club's official website: "I'm delighted we have Dylan with us now.

"He's blistering quick, plays on the right and he's got a fair bit of ability. He's got a goal in him as well.

"He's being playing as well and he's here with a view to being in the first team. He will play in the U21s next week if everything is okay and we will go from there."
