Nouble set for Oakwell loan

Sky Sports understands West Ham striker Frank Nouble is poised to join Barnsley on loan. Nouble, who scored and impressed in his only start in the Championship this season against Derby in December, has seen himself pushed further down the pecking order by the recent arrivals of Nicky Maynard and Ricardo Vaz Te with Sam Allardyce having nine strikers on the books at Upton Park. The England Under 19 international impressed during a loan spell at Gillingham earlier this season, scoring six goals in 14 appearances, and a number of clubs have been monitoring his situation at West Ham. However, Barnsley have won the race for Nouble's signature with the player set to join the Tykes initially on a month's loan with a view to extending it until the end of the season Nouble is keen to grasp his chance at Oakwell with the 20-year-old out of contract in the summer and not as yet being offered a new deal at Upton Park. "I am looking forward to going to Barnsley and playing some games and I will do my best for them to help them get as many points as possible," Nouble told skysports.com. "I am out of contract in the summer and it is very important I perform well and show potential suitors the qualities I have as I haven't been offered a new contract by West Ham." Nouble will miss Tuesday's clash with Middlesbrough, but is set to be available for the weekend clash with Southampton.
