Lions to land Barron

Millwall are on the brink of signing former Ipswich youngster Scott Barron.

Millwall are on the brink of bringing former Ipswich youngster Scott Barron to The Den.

The versatile 21-year-old was shown the door by the Championship side in May, and now looks likely to link up with manager Willie Donachie at Millwall.

"Scott can play at left back or on the left side of midfield which will give us further options in a variety of positions," said Donachie.

"He gained quite a bit of Championship experience the season before last when I was working with Joe Royle at Portman Road, but last season he didn't fit into Jim Magilton's plans.

"He will come to us hungry to prove that he is a quality player capable of making his mark at Championship level again, and that's where we want to be as a club in a year's time."

Barron spent a spell on loan at Wrexham last season as he failed to make an impact with Ipswich.
