Peters wants new Town deal

Ipswich youngster Jaime Peters is hoping to sign a new contract at Portman Road.

Ipswich Town youngster Jaime Peters is hoping to sign a new contract at Portman Road.

The Canadian teenager's current deal expires in the summer and there have been fears he would not be granted a work permit for an extension.

But the winger has featured prominently in Jim Magilton's plans of late and now hopes to stay with the Championship side.

"I'd love to stay," Peters told the club's official website. "I feel very comfortable here on and off the pitch.

"I've made a lot of friends here and it's a great club to play football for.

"Everyone gets on so well within the squad and around the place and I'm hoping I can stay here and earn myself a new contract."

Peters has made 18 Championship appearances this season and the club also recently confirmed a desire to secure an extension.

Meanwhile, Ipswich are awaiting the results of a scan on Francis Jeffers, after the on-loan striker hurt his hamstring against Southend United last Saturday.

Jeffers has returned to Blackburn Rovers for the scan and could be out for six weeks with the injury.
