Garvan signs Ipswich pledge

Owen Garvan has handed Ipswich a massive boost by pledging his future to the club.

Owen Garvan has handed Ipswich a massive boost by pledging his future to the club.

The highly-rated 18-year-old has come to the attention of several Premiership clubs this season after turning in several top drawer performances for The Tractor Boys.

Now Garvan has signalled his intention to help fire Ipswich into the top flight by signing an extension to his existing contract which will now keep him at the club until the summer of 2009.

"It's a boost to my confidence that Premiership clubs are said to have watched me this season but I've always seen my future here at Ipswich Town," he told the club's official website.

"Things have gone okay for me this season but I know I have a lot to learn in the game and this is a great place to be educated.

"It's nice to have signed now and hopefully I can play my part in making it a successful end to the season by helping the team finish in the play-off places. That is all that I'm concentrating on.

"Like any player I want to play in The Premiership and I'm determined to get there with Ipswich."
