Magilton & Co extend deals

Ipswich Town captain Jim Magilton has decided to extend his contract with the club.

Ipswich Town captain Jim Magilton has decided to extend his contract with the Championship club.

The former Northern Ireland international joins Fabian Wilnis and Dean McDonald in signing similar 12-month contracts with the Portman Road club on Tuesday.

Jimmy Juan, meanwhile, has extended his Ipswich loan for another year from French club Monaco.

Magilton, 36, was attracting the attentions of League Two side Bristol Rovers before deciding his future was best served with the East Anglian outfit.

"I have always wanted Jim here and it's a big boost for the club that he has decided to stay with us," manager Joe Royle told Ipswich's official website.

"He's a massive influence around the place, his enthusiasm comes through to all the players and don't underestimate what a big player he is for us on the pitch either."
