Davis keeps Forest at bay

Kelvin Davis frustrated Nottingham Forest as Ipswich Town clung on for a hard-earned 1-1 draw at The City Ground.

The Ipswich Town goalkeeper was in sparkling form to ensure Joe Royle's men retain their place in the play-offs after Darren Bent's goal was cancelled out by Wes Morgan.

Davis was called into action on a plethora of occasions to keep the hosts at bay, starting with Matthieu Louis-Jean while Marlon King and Eoin Jess both shot wide.

Gareth Williams then tested Davis while at the opposite end Forest keeper Darren Ward made a routine save to keep out Jermaine Wright's long-range shot.

The visiting shot-stopper also thwarted Andy Reid as Forest continued to crank up the pressure in search of the opening goal.

But it was Ipswich who took the lead not long after Shefki Kuqi's 25-yard shot was well held by a grateful Ward.

On 62 minutes, Wright's thunderous drive ricocheted off the crossbar and Bent was on hand to snaffle home the rebound.

Forest were deservedly level six minutes later when Reid's cross into the box was clinically finished by Morgan.

Davis had to be alert to deny Williams again while in the dying embers of the match, Bent had a chance to win the contest but directed his shot at Ward.
