Eagles boss delighted with team spirit at Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman hailed his team's fightback against Coventry as they scored two last-gasp goals to win 2-1 at Selhurst Park. The Sky Blues looked like they would take their first points of the season thanks to Lukasz Jutkiewicz's 48th minute strike, but Sean Scannell and Jermaine Easter both struck in stoppage time to send Selhurst Park into reptures. The Eagles move into fifth in the Championship and have enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign, one that will give a positive vibe around the club. Freedman was happy with his side's fortitude and said: "It was a pleasing result and we kept on going until the end, which is what you have to do as a football player. "We want to get ourselves a better start than we had done over the last few years because we have been playing under pressure the last two seasons. "You can't give these young players that kind of pressure so hopefully we can get some points on the board then I can get my teeth into how we play."

Zaha interest

Freedman, who revealed he will confirm the signing of defender Anthony Gardner on Wednesday, added he is well aware of the interest in 18-year-old wide-man Wilfried Zaha. He added: "It's not for me to say 'come and get him' because people will come and get him regardless. "It is a matter of holding on to them for long enough to enjoy it and when I hopefully have the say as to when they are good enough to represent another club then they will. "My plan is to hold on to them long enough to enjoy them. First of all he has to get a lower squad number." Coventry boss Andy Thorn opted to console his young players rather than speak to the media but his assistant Steve Harrison said: "They'll learn from their mistakes. "It is a shame that their mistakes are coming in the first team, but that is how young lads learn - from making mistakes. "They are costing us a bit at the present time but we should have had a a couple of goals. No matter how hard it is to take, we have to take it. "We had four or five young lads out there and they are doing a terrific job."
