Dowie hopeful over Routledge

Iain Dowie is confident midfielder Wayne Routledge will commit his future to Palace.

Iain Dowie is confident midfielder Wayne Routledge will commit his future to Crystal Palace in the not too distant future.

The diminutive wide man, who has impressed this term, is out of contract in the summer and Dowie is keen to tie him to a long term deal.

Routledge, 19-years-old, received a contract offer on Wednesday that Dowie feels should be enough to secure his services.

''He's received a thing (contract) that hopefully will please him,'' Dowie told Sky Sports News.

''It's an offer we feel is suitable and that's for Wayne to talk over but details will remain between me and Wayne.

''We desperately want him to stay and hopefully, he sees his future here.

''He's a special talent and can achieve everything in terms of money and success, here at Crystal Palace.

''There is no deadline if Wayne wants to stay. But, if he doesn't, that is something different.''
