Bolton have signed striker Adam Le Fondre on loan from Championship rivals Cardiff.

The former Rotherham forward moved from Reading to south Wales in the summer but has scored just three times in 25 appearances for the struggling Bluebirds.

He will stay with the Trotters until the end of the season but will not be able to feature when the two teams meet in April, or in Tuesday's clash against the Millers.

"Didn't quite happen for me at #ccfc looking to get back enjoying football and scorin goals an come back better for it next season," Le Fondre tweeted.

"Can't wait to get started next sat against wolves! Such a shame I'm unable to play against Rotherham."

Le Fondre is the latest departure from Cardiff, following the likes of John Brayford, Guido Burgstaller, Jo Inge Berget and Kim Bo-Kyung out of the exit door.

He joins Bolton at the same time as Portuguese teenager Rochinha, an attacking midfielder who arrives on loan from Benfica for the rest of the season.
