Sheffield Wednesday manager Stuart Gray is in the market for a new striker and has outlined the qualities he is looking for.

Gray is of the opinion that his squad is in need of an injection of firepower, and intends to put the loan window to good use.

He was able to bring in Stevie May over the summer and also has Atdhe Nuhiu and Gary Madine on his books.

Added competition for places is still required, though, and Wednesday are hoping for movement on the recruitment front in the near future.

Gray said in the Sheffield Star: “I want someone who knows the Championship and knows what is required.

“I want someone to come in and have an impact on the squad. It’s got to be the right one. I have to bring someone in who is hungry and wants to put a shift in.”

Gray, who says he continues to ‘pester’ fellow bosses, added: “I just feel in certain games, if we are playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday that you can’t ask the same two players to play all the time.

“I want my teams to be closing down from the front.

“You need two players who do that that and then around the 60 to 65 minute mark you can freshen it up and give the opposition’s centre-halves something different to think about.”
