Wadsworth eyeing more players

New Beira-Mar boss Mick Wadsworth has been linked with a move for more English-based players - according to reports in Portugal.

The former Huddersfield Town and DR Congo boss has already signed former Oldham Athletic captain Paul Murray with the Aveiro-based club.

Wolves striker Carl Cort and Port Vale hit-man Stephen McPhee have already attracted the interest of Wadsworth, with McPhee having had talks with Beira-Mar over a possible move to the Portuguese club.

The Scottish striker is keen to play at a higher level and has also talked with English Division One side Queens Park Rangers while Leeds United have had one bid rejected by The Valiants for the striker last week.

According to Portuguese daily 'O Jogo', the Estadio Municipal de Aveiro outfit are also showing interest in former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Kevin Pressman.

The 36-year-old was one of 13 players to be released by Wednesday boss Chris Turner last month, as The Owls look to revive their flagging fortunes next season.

The veteran custodian admitted this week that he feared he may have to retire prematurely after not receiving any offers from other clubs following his release from Hillsborough.

However, it remains to be seen if a move to Portugal would interest the veteran custodian for next season.
