Centre-back hopes to take part in full training next week

Colchester United have been handed a boost with the imminent return of defender Pat Baldwin from injury. The long-serving centre-back picked up the ankle problem during the goalless draw with Southampton in mid-September. However, the former Chelsea youngster told skysports.com that he hopes to return to full training next week. "I've had one or two complications with it, but hopefully it will settle down and I will be able to train with the rest of the lads next week," he said. "I picked it up against Southampton and it has taken quite a while longer than I had initially hoped for to settle down. "I've been doing training on it with the physio, but it is still a little bit sore underneath, which is uncomfortable. "It doesn't hurt where the initial injury was, but hopefully that will calm down over the weekend. "I'm hoping to be able to take part in full training again next week, so hopefully it won't keep me out for too much longer, but we just have to wait and see how it reacts over the weekend."
