U's ace faces lengthy spell on sidelines after dislocated shoulder

Colchester will have to be without the services of Lee Beevers for some time after he underwent surgery on his dislocated shoulder. The defender has missed the club's last five games after picking up the problem following a collision with MK Dons forward Jemal Johnson last month. It was thought that the 25-year-old could recover without the need for surgery but that notion was dispelled when scans revealed the extent of the damage. Us physio Tony Flynn believes the former Lincoln man could be out for months not weeks but Beevers remains positive and is focusing on returning to Aidy Boothroyd's first eleven. "I've settled in really well at Colchester and it's unfortunate with the timing of it, with the new manager coming in," he told the Daily Gazette. "He said he was disappointed for me but that he wants to see me back as soon as possible."
