Duguid committed to U's

Karl Duguid has underlined his commitment to Colchester as talk of an exit grows.

Colchester United captain Karl Duguid has underlined his commitment to the Championship side after speculation that contract talks have stalled in recent days.

The U's midfielder sees his contract expire at the end of the season and is yet to agree a new deal with Geraint Williams' surprise package.

MK Dons have been linked with the 28-year-old midfielder but Duguid insists he is fully committed to the club and is keen to extend his lengthy stay at Layer Road.

"I've been talking to the club for a while," wrote Duguid in the club's official programme.

"I want to be here and to be part of what's happening and part of Colchester's success.

"The paper talk is just that - paper talk.

"People know I'm up at the end of the season and they see that Colchester are doing well and put two and two together and come up with something that isn't four.

"I've been here for 12 years and if I could I'd stay here for another 12 years."
