Rovers thwarted by U's

Doncaster were held at home by Colchester on Friday.

Doncaster's hopes of securing a play-off berth were dealt a blow as they were held at home by Colchester on Friday.

Rovers are on the fringe of the play-off picture in League One, but they failed to boost their hopes on Friday as a resilient Colchester side went away from Belle Vue with a point.

Colchester are ensconced in mid-table but they travelled to Doncaster with a sense of purpose and took the lead on 14 minutes when Marino Keith's deflected shot found its way past Iain Turner to hand them the lead.

Doncaster rallied, but James Coppinger and Neil Roberts wasted good chances to level the scores before the break.

However, their perseverance was rewarded 14 minutes from time when Lewis Guy slotted home Gregg Blundell's low cross to rescue a point for the home side.
