League One round-up

Luton took advantage of a slip by Hull City to open a one-point gap in League One.

Luton took advantage of a slip by rivals Hull City to open a one-point gap at the top of League One, despite being held to a goalless draw at Colchester.

Hull City went down by a single goal in their Yorkshire derby with Doncaster, Michael McIndoe (pictured) was the hero for Rovers, netting on the hour mark.

Tranmere closed to within two points of Hull with a 2-1 home win over Walsall. Brian Little's men appeared to be cruising to victory after having assumed a two-goal advantage thanks to Iain Hume and Chris Dagnell, but Jorge Leitao ensured a nervy finish for the hosts.

Hartlepool remain very much in the promotion picture and beat play-off rivals Bristol City, Antony Sweeney grabbing the winner 20 minutes from time after Stephen Brooker had cancelled out Adam Boyd's early penalty.

Brentford moved into the play-off places after a fine home win over Swindon Town. Grant Smith had given the visitors the lead on 20 minutes but Deon Burton brought Martin Allen's side level just before the break, and Stephen Hunt brought Griffin Park to its feet with a late winner.

Huddersfield sunk Bournemouth thanks in no small part to a double from on-loan Luke Beckett.

The prolific Pawel Abbott had opened the scoring for The Terriers with an early penalty, and Beckett ensured that a brace from Bournemouth counterpart James Hayter ultimately counted for nothing.

Bradford and Torquay shared four goals, Andy Cooke and Dean Windass seemed to have put The Bantams in control, but Tony Bedeau and Adebayo Akinfenwa earned the visitors a share of the spoils with all the goals coming in a thrilling first half.

Stockport claimed a point against Barnsley thanks to a last-gasp Warren Feeney penalty, Barnsley had seemed set for maximum points after Michael Boulding and Tony Vaughan had responded to Keith Briggs's early goal.

A Kevin Betsy double earned Oldham a 2-1 win at Peterborough for whom Andy Legg scored and then got sent off for violent conduct.

Juan Ugarte produced the individual performance of the day, firing Wrexham to victory at Chesterfield single-handedly after grabbing all four goals in their 4-2 win - Ian Evett and Shane Nicholson (penalty) scored for the hosts.

Blackpool did their survival hopes a power of good with a narrow 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Milton Keynes Dons, Paul Edwards getting the all-important goal after eight minutes.
