Red Devils midfielder reveals extent of damage from Delap clash

Crawley Town midfielder David Hunt has angrily slammed suggestions that he feigned injury to get Rory Delap sent off during the FA Cup clash with Stoke at the weekend. Delap was sent off in the first half for a lunging tackle on Hunt, with the incident sparking a bust-up between both benches. Stoke boss Tony Pulis blasted the officials after the game over the red card, with the Potters lodging an appeal against the dismissal which was upheld by the Football Association. Hunt has become the target of vile abuse on Twitter from fans accusing him of feigning injury and the 29-year-old admits he has been left perplexed as to why the FA rescinded Delap's red card. The former Crystal Palace and Leyton Orient man has revealed he suffered a broken foot in the challenge with Delap and played through the pain barrier in the game despite blood pouring from his sock. "I am upset and angry that some people have suggested I feigned injury in a bid to get Rory Delap sent off," Hunt told Sky Sports. "I would never do that to a fellow professional and I am disgusted by some of the things that have been sent to me on Twitter.

Fractured foot

"I have a fractured foot with puncture wounds which will keep me out for six weeks. "I love playing football and now I will miss a crucial part of the season, but I hope to be back for the run-in to try and help Crawley win promotion. "It was an honest challenge and I was not trying to get Delap sent off, I was genuinely injured. "However, I played on through the pain because it was the fifth round of the FA Cup against a Premier League club and it was a big game live on television. "It was disappointing to see Tony Pulis trying to get on the pitch to look at my foot, but if he saw it he would have seen blood pouring out of my sock."
