Midfielder signs two-year deal

Salif Diao has ended speculation over his future by rejoining Stoke on a two-year deal. The Senegal international left Stoke in June upon the expiration of his previous contract at the Britannia Stadium. Diao rejected Stoke's initial offer of a new deal earlier this summer and a number of clubs were thought to be interested in signing the former Liverpool man. However, Diao has now agreed to return to Stoke and he has inked a two-year contract which will also see him take up a role as a club ambassador. "Talks have gone very well and finally I have agreed a two-year contract and I am very delighted and happy to be back at home," Diao told Sky Sports News.

Fantastic

Stoke boss Tony Pulis was delighted to welcome back the popular midfielder. "It is fantastic to see Salif back because he is not only an experienced head, he is a good person to have around the place," said Pulis. We made it perfectly clear that there would always be a welcome for him back here and we are delighted he has signed now. "He has an important role to play in the future of the club, both as player and in an ambassadorial role, but we appreciate that he wants to make the most of trying to enjoy more success on the pitch first and foremost."
