Stoke shun Chadwick enquiry

Stoke City have dismissed an approach from Norwich City for winger Luke Chadwick.

Stoke City have dismissed an approach from Norwich City for winger Luke Chadwick.

Canaries boss Nigel Worthington had expressed an interest in luring Chadwick to Carrow Road, just six months after the 25-year-old completed a permanent move to Stoke.

The former Manchester United youth had earlier spent the first half of last season on loan from West Ham United prior to Stoke splashing out £100,000 for his signature.

Chadwick has a further two years on his Britannia Stadium contract and chief executive Tony Scholes confirmed Norwich's enquiry received short shrift.

"I can confirm that an approach was made by Norwich City for Luke Chadwick, but our response was to reject it out of hand," Scholes told The Sentinel.

"It was just an initial enquiry whether we would consider an offer from Norwich City and that was turned down as we are not in the habit of selling our best players."

New Potters boss Tony Pulis echoed the sentiment and is not prepared to allow Norwich to take Chadwick off his hands.

Pulis said: "I did not know anything about the enquiry from Norwich City, but one thing that I will say is that at Stoke City we have no intention of selling our best players.

"Luke is a good player and important to the team."
