Jerome double sinks Stoke

Cameron Jerome scored twice as Cardiff were 3-0 winners at Stoke.

Cameron Jerome scored twice as Cardiff beat Stoke 3-0 at the Britannia Stadium to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches.

Jerome, who scored twice in last season's corresponding fixture, helped himself to another brace as the Potters crashed to their third successive heavy home defeat.

The 18-year-old striker opened the scoring in the 10th minute and rounded off an impressive night for Dave Jones' side just before the interval, either side of Darren Purse's fourth goal for the club.

Joe Ledley created the opener for Jerome, playing in his fellow Welshman who made no mistake with a powerful right-foot shot.

Two minutes later the Bluebirds doubled their lead as Jason Koumas swung in a free-kick and Purse headed beyond Steve Simonsen.

Jerome was denied a third for the visitors by Simonsen moments later, but he found the net again in the 43rd minute with a shot from the edge of the area.

Paul Gallacher almost pulled a goal back for Stoke five minutes into the second half when he struck a post with a fierce shot, but the best chances fell to Cardiff, with Michael Ricketts heading over and Koumas firing a shot just too high.
