Bluebirds bring back Barker

Cardiff have recalled Chris Barker from his loan spell at Stoke.

Chris Barker has left Stoke to rejoin Cardiff after the Welsh side recalled him from his loan stint.

Barker moved to The Britannia Stadium a month ago from Cardiff on a three-month loan deal.

However, Bluebirds boss Lennie Lawrence has decided to bring Barker back to Ninian Park after their poor start to the season.

Potters boss Tony Pulis is not happy with the move but has already started looking for a replacement.

"Cardiff have been in touch with us and say they want Chris back," said Pulis.

"We would have preferred him to stay because he has played very well, but we have no choice.

"We are working on bringing someone else to replace him."

Barker has done well for high-flying Stoke who are up to second place in The Championship after a great start to the season.

In contrast, Cardiff have won just once and are just a place off the bottom of the table and Lawrence hopes Barker will help drag his men out of the danger zone.
