IWELUMO SPEAKS OF RUSHED YORK MOVE

YORK CITY`s on-loan striker Chris Iwelumo, who made the move from Stoke on Friday, revealed how the deal was rushed through in bid to make him available for the weekend game with Torquay.

Iwelumo made an immediate impact, climbing off the bench to set up Kevin Hulme`s late winner in the 3-2 home victory.

Speaking after the game, Iwelumo said: "I was only told on Thursday afternoon that it was on the cards and I did actually say no to it at first because I thought it was a bit rushed.

"I went in and trained on Friday, spoke to Nigel Pearson (first team coach at Stoke) and we had a long chat about it and decided I should come up. I am here for a month and hopefully I can do a job."

The 22-year-old revealed how he is hoping to make an impact for The Minstermen and give a nudge to Stoke boss Gudjon Thordarson.

"I have just extended my contract at Stoke but there is a lot of competition among the strikers so this is an experience builder for me."
