Vitesse midfielder left in limbo

Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Alexander Buttner admits 'all options are open again', with a proposed move to Southampton hanging in the balance. The 23-year-old appeared destined for the Premier League when the Saints agreed a fee with Vitesse. Talks broke down, though, once a third party became involved and Buttner has been left in transfer limbo. He admits he has no idea where he will be playing his football next season, with Fulham, Queens Park Rangers, Hannover and Werder Bremen also believed to be keen on doing a deal. "I can't do anything other than wait," Buttner said in Voetbal International.

Factors

"I had a good feeling with Southampton, but the transfer depends on several factors. "At the moment all options are open again." Buttner's agent is also in the dark when it comes to his client's future, but admits that a switch to Southampton would appear unlikely. "It appears agreements that were reached 10 days ago don't exist anymore," said Alexander Bursac. "The way everything is right now astounds us and is unacceptable, for us and Vitesse."
