Stale Solbakken was satisfied after Wolves won 3-1 at Northampton, whose boss Aidy Boothroyd had no complaints.
A much-changed Wolves side went ahead in the Capital One Cup second round clash through Danny Batth and then wrested back the lead on the stroke of half-time via Frank Nouble after boyhood Wolves fan Clive Platt had put the Cobblers back on level terms.
The Championship outfit dominated the second half but wasted several chances until debutant Bakary Sako came off the bench to score a third in stoppage time to book a third-round trip to Chelsea.
Solbakken said: "The first half was tight and I had a feeling it would be, Northampton are a big side and very well organised.
"We knew it would be tough but as the game went along we got better and better.
"We should have killed the game off in the second half, we had four or five good chances inside the first ten minutes.
"But it was a good opportunity to give some players 90 or 60 minutes and some of the younger players did well."
The Wolves boss was also delighted to see new signing Sako score just moments after coming off the bench.
"It was a good goal from Bakary [Sako]. I'm looking for him to bring goals to the side as well as some assists, and he can cause teams problems with his quick feet.
"I would like to bring in one more player before the transfer window closes. We are working on it but we are not close to anything at the moment."
No complaints
Despite seeing his League Two side go out of the competition, Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd had no complaints about the performance.
"My hope was that the players would give their all and leave nothing on the pitch, and I think they did that," he said.
"You hope you give a good account of yourself and I think we did that as well.
"We played some terrific stuff and at half-time it would have been difficult to tell which was the side from the higher level.
"I'm disappointed with the result but the blame should not be put at Dean Snedker's door because they were sloppy, flukey goals that are difficult to take.
"The three goals that we conceded were all very poor but we've got a young lad in goal who is only 17 and who will only get better and better."
