Promoted teams at home on busy night of action

Blackpool face Leeds in a clash between two sides who won their opening league matches, while the three promoted teams all play their first home games. Huddersfield were denied a point against Cardiff on Friday night by Mark Hudson's injury-time strike and will now be looking to get their campaign off and running at the John Smith's Stadium, although they face a tough test against a Nottingham Forest team that began life under Sean O'Driscoll with a win against Bristol City. Championship football also returns to The Valley, where Chris Powell's Charlton will be hoping to shrug off the disappointment of conceding a last-gasp equaliser against Birmingham when they entertain a Leicester side again tipped to challenge for promotion. Birmingham next face another promoted side as they travel to Hillsborough to take on Sheffield Wednesday, who fought back well to hold Derby 2-2 on Saturday. Blackpool and Leeds both impressed over the weekend and will be looking to make it two wins out of two when they lock horns at Bloomfield Road. Wolves were beaten 1-0 by Leeds and must now try to bounce back at home to a Barnsley side that edged out Middlesbrough by the same scoreline in their league opener. Bolton were another relegated side to start with a demoralising defeat and Owen Coyle will be demanding an improved display at the Reebok Stadium against Derby. Watford have made no secret of their ambitions for the future after a summer of change at Vicarage Road, and the Hornets can establish themselves among the early front-runners by defeating an Ipswich side that drew with Blackburn on Saturday. Middlesbrough are another team desperate to push back into the Premier League and will be looking to recover from their loss to Barnsley when in-form Burnley travel to The Riverside. Having been knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Swindon and then lost to Hull City, Brighton now have the chance to play in front of their own supporters at the Amex Stadium against Cardiff. Bristol City and Crystal Palace, who both lost their opening games, do battle at Ashton Gate, while Peterborough host Millwall in another encounter between two sides without a point.
