Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme is set for up to nine weeks on the sidelines after undergoing thumb surgery.
Ikeme, who joined Rovers on loan from Wolves in November after injury curtailed a temporary spell at the Keepmoat Stadium for Wigan keeper Chris Kirkland, suffered thumb ligament damage in training earlier this week.
With veteran custodian Neil Sullivan sidelined due to a thumb problem of his own, youngster Gary Woods will take the gloves when Dean Saunders' side host Leicester on Saturday.
"Carl's had to have an operation on his thumb, as well as Neil Sullivan," Saunders told Doncaster's official website.
"They're both freak injuries.
"On Monday morning, James Coppinger has gone round Ikeme, his thumb got caught in the grass and the ligament's come off the bone. I'm really disappointed."
The Rovers boss added: "Gary Woods will get his chance and hopefully take it with both hands. We'll see how he does because the shirt is his and it's up to him to keep it."
