French defender looking to make his mark at Molineux

Steven Mouyokolo is hoping to settle quickly at Wolves and soon be pushing for a starting role. The Frenchman recently completed a switch to Molineux from Hull City, who suffered relegation out of the Premier League last season. He penned a four-year contract upon his arrival, with the option for a fifth should both sides wish to prolong the agreement. A long-term deal gives Mouyokolo plenty of time in which to find his feet, but he is determined to hit the ground running. "The most important thing for me now is to have a good pre-season," he said in the Birmingham Mail. "I want to get to know how the gaffer (Mick McCarthy) works and the other players and to get to know them and everybody at the club. "I've signed for many years here and need to settle in and adapt, which I will try to do as soon as possible. "I think I will, and it's good to have the pre-season because that is important to make sure I am ready for the first game."

Choices

The 23-year-old may have been purchased with one eye on the future, but Mouyokolo has no intention of sitting on the sidelines. "The team is the gaffer's choice," he added. "I'm here to be involved with the squad and will do my best to be in the starting XI, but we will see. "It will be good to be here working with Mick McCarthy and the other players who have done very well over the last couple of seasons. "So it will be tough to win a place in the team, but I will just give my best and work as hard as I can."
