Hatters hire Wolves defender

Stockport have signed Stephen Gleeson on a one-month loan from Wolves.

Stockport have signed defender Stephen Gleeson on a one-month loan from Wolves.

The 18-year-old will go straight into Jim Gannon's squad for the League Two game against Lincoln this Saturday.

Wolves are keen for Gleeson to get some games under his belt and then return to Molineux and stake a claim for a regular starting role.

"We have stressed to him that this is an opportunity to go and get some experience of the football league," Wolves reserve coach Terry Connor told the club's official website.

"But he's a Wolves player and we want him to come back and make a difference.

"We want him to be a first team player here so we have told him to go and get some experience and then come back here to start challenging to get in the side."

Gleeson is Stockport's second signing within 24 hours following Tony Kane's arrival on loan from Blackburn.
