Mariners trial quartet

Grimsby Town boss Graham Rodger has handed trials to four players.

Grimsby Town boss Graham Rodger has handed trials to four players this pre-season.

Former Sheffield Wednesday winger Richard Evans, ex-Notts County midfielder Chibuzor Chilaka, former Wolves striker Tony Stewart and local youngster Will Clifford will all try to impress The Mariners this week.

Former Birmingham City man Evans comes to the League Two club as an option down the left-hand side.

Nigerian-born Chilaka spent time at Rushden & Diamonds before joining the youth ranks at Meadow Lane.

Stewart was on the books at Molineux, while Clifford has spent the last two seasons with Louth United in the Central Midlands League.

Clifford only left Louth last week to sign for Unibond League Premier Division side North Ferriby United, but will hope for a chance in The Football League with Grimsby.
