Wolves eye Johnson swoop

Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle is reportedly ready to sign David Johnson.

Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle is reportedly ready to end David Johnson's Nottingham Forest nightmare by taking him to Molineux.

The Forest hit-man has fallen out with new boss Gary Megson and both parties are in agreement that the only solution is to part ways.

Hull City were thought to be heading the chase for the former Ipswich striker but the club have since denied that this is indeed the case.

Hoddle could firm up his interest in the next few days as he looks to cement Wolves' late surge for a Championship play-off berth.

Johnson has already stated his intention to quit The City Ground and it would seem likely that a move across the Midlands would appeal.

Meanwhile, Forest chief Megson is eyeing a move for Leeds defender Michael Duberry as he looks to fill the void left by Michael Dawson's departure.

With Forest firmly involved in the battle to beat the drop, Megson is desperate to bring in an experienced defender and Duberry could well fit the bill in this respect.

The former Chelsea stopper has been told he can leave Elland Road as his Premiership wages are proving prohibitive to the club's financial structure.

A possible loan deal has been mooted but it is thought that Megson would be keener on a permanent switch.
