Alan Irvine is confident Craig Dawson and Claudio Yacob will see out the transfer window on the books at West Bromwich Albion.

Dawson was expected to be among those heading out of The Hawthorns this summer, with the defender having handed in a transfer request amid interest from Premier League new boys Burnley.

Approaches have been knocked back, though, and the 24-year-old has emerged as a key figure following injuries to Joleon Lescott and Gareth McAuley.

Irvine is now looking to keep Dawson past Monday’s deadline, with there nothing to suggest that another offer for the former England U21 international is imminent.

He said: “It’s all quiet and Craig seems really happy.

“I don’t think there’s any way that would happen and I don’t think Craig would be interested now either.

There has been some speculation but I’m not aware of any offers that have come in for Claudio.

“He’s in the team and he’s playing well and looking extremely settled and that’s all he wanted, to feel he was in our team and given a good chance to secure a place here.

“At the moment he’s in control of that position and if he keeps on playing well he will remain in control of that position.”

Irvine is also expecting to keep Argentina international Yacob on his books, despite the midfielder struggling for game time since slipping out of favour towards the end of last season.

He added: “As far as I know we’ve heard nothing since then.

“There has been some speculation but I’m not aware of any offers that have come in for Claudio.

“He has taken a little longer to get fit than some of the others but he had an unusual summer with a new baby and had some sleepless nights.

“But he’s not someone we’re looking to move out. We’re not looking to move anyone out and I will be quite happy when the window closes if we can get a last player in.”
