Clarke confirms an offer has been received from an unnamed club

Sky Sports sources understand Blackburn Rovers have made a bid for West Bromwich Albion striker Simon Cox after Steve Clarke confirmed an offer has been received from an unnamed club. The Republic of Ireland international, who has also been linked with Celtic, was left out of Saturday's friendly against Barnsley amid speculation about his future. Clarke has not revealed the source of the offer for Cox, but it is believed to be Blackburn following earlier interest this summer from the Ewood Park club. Steve Kean wants to add to his attacking options and the Blackburn boss has already signed Leon Best while Queens Park Rangers forward DJ Campbell is also a target. Clarke is now waiting to see if Cox will leave West Brom over the weekend after watching his side draw 0-0 with Barnsley. "A bid has been put in for Simon and you know what it's like when something like (this) happens," Clarke told West Brom's official website. "The player can become a little bit distracted so I made the decision not to bring him today. "Things might resolve themselves over the weekend. If they don't, Simon will be back working with us. "In fact, I know he's due in tomorrow for training with the group."
