Hibernian goalkeeper David Grof has joined Premier League side West Bromwich Albion on trial.
The highly-rated 19-year-old Hungarian is set to link up with The Baggies after their approach was accepted by Hibs.
Tony Mowbray approached his former club and counterpart Mixu Paatelainen admitted he could not stand in Grof's way.
"David has gone to train with West Brom this week and it is a good opportunity for him," Paatelainen told
the Scotsman.
"We will see how he copes with it, the different surroundings and a different group of players.
"We have got good goalkeepers at the club and I am delighted with the situation that we are in at the moment. I don't think that David is ready for the first team at the moment, but there is no doubt that he is a talented young goalkeeper and a very talented prospect.
"I didn't want to stand in his way because he is an ambitious boy, I don't think there is a young player out there who doesn't have that kind of attitude. He wants to push himself and that is a good thing
"But he is a good keeper, we need competition for places, and if he comes back to the club then he will be welcomed back."
Paatelainen also has his own trialists - Denes Rosa and Markus Berger - to look at and he is ready to look at them closely in the next few days.
"We have got Denes and Markus in with us this week and hopefully we will get a chance to have a look at them in a match situation. But there is no point in speculating on what might or might not happen," he added.
"We will watch them today and take it from there."
